Bharat Thakur: The Living Himalayan Master of Art and Yoga

Bharat Thakur is a renowned spiritual teacher who has led numerous meditation and yoga workshops worldwide, TIME magazine has hailed him as “the Living Himalayan Master.” He has been in the news constantly and India Today as well as Gulf News have published articles about him.

At the age of 4, Bharat was chosen by his mentor, Sukhdev Brahmachari, and taken to the Himalayas. Under his guidance, he immersed himself in the study of various yoga practices, including Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Karma Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and key components such as Pranayama (breathing techniques), Asana (postures), and Dhyaan (meditation). In addition, he explored subjects like Ayurveda,
Tantra, and Mantra, while also studying Sufism, Jainism, and Buddhism. After his time in the Himalayas, he returned to complete his formal education, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Yoga from Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education in Gwalior, India.

Bharat Thakur is the founder of “Artistic Yoga,” a unique approach that adapts traditional yoga practices to meet the demands of modern lifestyles. His system emphasizes fitness in all forms- strength, flexibility, stamina, balance, and agility. Artistic Yoga is practiced across India in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, as well as internationally in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, and Russia. Bharat Thakur’s “Transformation” Stress Management program has been adopted by major corporations like Infosys, Wipro, Acer, HLL, HSBC Bank, and UTV. The program teaches practical yogic techniques and desktop yoga to reduce stress and alleviate common issues like headaches, back pain, digestive disorders, and hypertension.

Thakur has expanded his operations into the UK, USA, and Singapore. He has written seven books on Yoga and a collection of poetry titled Truth: The Art of The Mystics. His work also includes energy therapies, and he has launched a magazine called Mayanagar, as well as a portal of the same name, which focuses on the entertainment industry.

In 2007, Bharat Thakur married Indian actress Bhumika Chawla, whom he met through Bollywood actor Salman Khan. He has exhibited at the Gallery of light at DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates wherein celebrities graced the show. He has also exhibited in Hyderabad and again did a solo at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, India. Bharat Thakur is noted for his International Art Exhibitions and Yoga.
